The Polyglot Group is seeking a Geotechnical Resident Engineer to be based on-site Near Cooma for our client Lombardi.

Being part of a Design Joint Venture (DJV) for one of the most exciting renewable energy projects in Australia currently, they are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join their on-site team in South NSW.
The role will be based on site and will comprise specialists of several disciplines (geologist, geotechnical, civil/structural and electro-mechanical).
The role
We are looking for a Lead Geotechnical Engineer for a major hydropower project to liaise with DJV and FGJV on all geological and geotechnical aspects regarding underground excavations & supports. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be working on 2 weeks on 1 week off/5 days on 2 days off based outside Cooma, NSW.
Your main task and responsibilities will include:
Assisting FGJV on all geotechnical aspects regarding excavations by TBM/DB
Regularly visiting sites to observe construction works in progress for general conformance with design intent and to resolve issues that may arise during construction
Providing response for the RFI’s submitted by the Client and/or the Employer regarding clarification on designs including non-substantial field changes
Supporting the the Client in providing response for NCR’s related to unexpected issues found during execution of the works
Designing services for review of Shop drawings and Manufacture drawings to verify the design intent for design scope completion
Verifying mark-ups of the IFC design drawings with design change information prepared by the Client and verifying the confirmation of design intent
Assisting and monitoring the excavation of tunnels and surge shafts
Providing testing and commissioning procedures and assistance during the tests through the Resident Engineering Design Site Team
Preparing supplemental design information during construction, if needed as Variation
Reporting on all the above listed activities by the Resident Engineering Design Site Team and back office on a monthly basis
Selection criteria
In order to be successful for this position, you should have:
Degree qualifications in in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil/Structural Engineering.
A minimum of 15 years experience.
Extensive experience as resident engineer on large infrastructure projects.
Experience in geotechnical design of underground structures in rock conditions
Experience on site with TBM excavation, and Drill & Blast
Experience in on-site & lab quality control and assurance of civil construction works (e.g. concrete testing)
Familiar with site quality management, including inspection & test plans of civil construction works
Relevant training, certification and accreditation in NSW (White Card, Safety certifications for underground works, working at heights, etc.)
A salary of up to 250,000 is offered for the right person.
