Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the 4100 megawatt Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and has recently contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to more than 1.1 million retail customers through Red Energy and Lumo Energy.
An exciting opportunity exists for a SCADA Engineer position. You will maintain operational capability of the SCADA system to ensure the reliability and availability required to enable safe and efficient operation of Snowy Hydro's assets and to facilitate business growth through the provision of new data and SCADA system services.
As the SCADA Engineer you will be responsible for:

Maintaining SCADA systems and applications reliability and availability of at least 99.99% and monitoring the integrity and security of SCADA systems.Also maintaining SCADA systems environment in compliance with the corporate standards and security policies.

Maintaining plant data standards to ensure market compliance and high quality of data storage and developing and documenting effective procedures for the support and maintenance of SCADA systems.

Providing support to Scheme Operations (GenOps) for any SCADA related enquiries and problems whilst coordinating SCADA database implementations.

Maintaining technical competency in all SCADA systems and participating in SCADA on call roster .

Developing detailed designs for SCADA and conducting design reviews of other engineer's work. You will provide support for testing of any SCADA related new implementations.

Providing technical leadership to Snowy Hydro personnel who require SCADA system support.

Initiate and project manage or support SCADA related projects within budget, on time and to quality standards.

Develop functional specifications, test plans and business cases for SCADA related projects.

Coordinating and performing integration of new developments for SCADA systems to ensure systems availability and reliability, data quality and compliance of cyber security standards.

To be successful in this role you will have the following capabilities:

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant degree - Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems or Software Engineering.

You will need a high level of understanding of Linux, Windows server administration and TCP/IP based networks and technologies.

Proficiency in programming in C and C++in realin a real time systems environment and any programming language for text processing and manipulation.

Experience in engineering of complex OSIsoft PI historian solutions including implementation of PI interfaces, PI AF and analytics.

Experience as an engineer in the industry with the specialisation in SCADA Systems and experience in system development and maintenance of large WAN based SCADA systems.

Highly developed written business writing and oral communication skills, with an ability to write clear and concise reports, specifications and business case support documentation
